Assessment Policy
How we identify and record each child’s current and ongoing development, strengths and needs in order to identify if they meet our funders service specifications, and ensure we provide appropriate intervention under both health and education components.
Child Protection Policy
We have an obligation to ensure the wellbeing of children in our care and are committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and to the protection of all children. This policy outlines our commitment to child protection.
Complaints Policy
Outlines how parents, visitors and employees may make a complaint about any aspect of our service or the actions of members of our team.
Consultation Policy
How we will consult with clients and their families or whanau, and the wider community to assist them to meet the objectives of the organisation.
Cultural responsiveness and support for those with ESOL Policy
Guides and supports our kaiako and wider team in recognising, respecting, and responding to the diverse cultural identities, languages, values, and beliefs of all tamariki and their whānau.
Curriculum Framework Policy
Outlines how our local curriculum programme aligns with and is drawn from, the Early Childhood Education National Curriculum, Te Whāriki. This operational policy also specifies the processes we have in place to ensure we comply with the Curriculum requirements of the Ministry of Education’s Licencing Criteria for childcare centres
Education outside the Classroom Policy (EOTC)
Procedures for trips/ excursions from the centre as a part of the curriculum, to extend the learning opportunities and increase our tamariki’s knowledge of the wider community.
ECE Fees Policy
We will provide a current schedule of fees and information to all parents upon enrolment in our Early Childhood Education programme. This information will also be accessible to all parents in the centre.
Follow up support for mainstream children Policy
Oulines the provision for families to access a follow-up session once per term for one year, for children who have transitioned from our service, specifically when the child has transitioned to a mainstream Early Education Centre/Primary School.
Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
Conductive Education Waikato Trust is committed to ensuring that children’s health is promoted and emotional well-being nurtured; and they are kept safe from harm and to providing the Workers (those listed below under terms of reference) with a safe and healthy place in which to work and to make every reasonable effort in areas of accident/injury prevention, rehabilitation, and promotion of health, safety and welfare.
Injuries, Illness and Incidents Policy
The health and wellbeing of our children is of the utmost importance to us. We will make every effort to create a safe and healthy environment and will act urgently where required and effectively to ensure the health and wellbeing of all children in our care.
Internal Evaluation and Review Policy
To ensure that our service has processes for continual improvement to maintain the quality of the education and care provided to tamariki. It is underpinned by our belief that ongoing internal evaluation is part of wise practice.
Medicines Policy
There are cases where a child will need basic first aid such as antiseptic cream, or a child requires medication to be administered while in the care of Wana Tamariki. It is imperative that medicine is appropriately administered and only by those authorised and trained to do so.
Parental Involvement Policy
Describes how we ensure parents have access to information concerning their child, our centre’s operational documents, such as philosophy, policies, and procedures. In addition, it describes opportunities for parents to be involved in the development and review of our centre’s operational documents.
Privacy Policy
The Privacy Act 2020 governs how organisations and businesses can collect, store, use and share children’s, parents’ and employees’ information. Our centre protects the privacy of children, their parents and whānau enrolled in our service, as well as persons employed by our service.
Referral Policy
Referrals may be made to our Service by individuals, Community Agencies, other Service Providers, or Medical Professionals. This policy outlines how referrals are handled at Wana Tamariki.
Registration of Teachers and the professional growth cycle Policy
This policy ensures that kaiako are supported to work towards, and maintain their registration and practising certificate. At Wana Tamariki, our annual Professional Growth Cycle is designed to promote both individual and collaborative professional learning. It supports kaiako as reflective, highly trusted professionals and is focused on continually enhancing teaching practice to improve outcomes for all learners.
Safety Checking Policy
This policy provides detailed information and a clear process to ensure all those working at our childcare centre meet the safety check requirements specified in the Children’s Act 2014 and the Children’s (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s workers) Regulations 2015, as well as the Education and Training Act 2020 and requirements from all our centre’s funders.
Settling Children into the Centre Policy
Outlines a variety of methods will be used when settling children into the centre to ensure each child’s individual needs are considered and that their introduction to Wana Tamariki Trust is positive for them and their family.
Supporting Children's Social and Emotional Competence Policy
We believe that children become emotionally and socially competent when adults treat them, and others, with warmth, respect and dignity. The physical safety and emotional well being of all teachers and children in the Centre should be ensured.
Transition to School Policy
To achieve smooth, effective transitions for children, their families and educators based on current knowledge of best practice.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi Policy
Wana Tamariki respects and acknowledges the unique position of Māori as tangata whenua in Aotearoa/New Zealand. We have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and honour it as He Kawenata (a covenant) and He Taonga Tapu (a sacred treasure) between Māori and non-Māori.
Maori Health Policy
We acknowledge the inequalities of health faced by Māori and are committed to ensuring that Maori children and their whanau achieve a good quality of life and wellbeing through the recognition of Maori models of health and wellbeing.
Restraint Minimisation Policy
Safety and wellbeing of children is paramount. Wana Tamariki Trust shall aim for a restraint free environment, in which children’s rights, dignity and mana are maintained. This policy explains what is meant by restraint, the importance of minimising the use of restraint, why restraint might be used and how restraint is managed.
