Kia ora! I’m Summer Reid and I am the centre administrator at Wana Tamariki. I have a varied background from Education to marketing and communications. Working with the wonderful team at Wana Tamariki has inspired me to draw on my previous experience to what I believe is my “true calling”, and I am now also currently studying towards a Bachelor in Speech and Language Therapy.Enter your content...

My husband Paul and I moved to Matangi in 2019 after living for 19 years in rural Pukekohe. We have two adult sons, Troy and Wade. I have a strong interest in mountain biking, gardening, walking in nature, maintaining my health, supporting my family’s interests and furthering my own education.
I completed my teacher training at the University of Auckland while our boys were at primary school. I was inspired to pursue teaching after many years of active involvement in Playcentre. I particularly enjoy the meaningful interactions I share with preschool children and cherish the “light bulb” moments that happen as they learn through play.
Supporting children with additional needs has always been a strong interest of mine. Completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention at Massey University at the end of 2024 has deepened my knowledge and strengthened my passion for this important area of education.

Our supporting staff play a vital role for children attending both in our centre and in the community. They work as a team to support the practitioners as they implement the goals for each child within centre based programmes. Some support staff provide learning support for individual children in community Kindergartens/Early Childhood Education Centre’s as Education Support Workers (ESWs). This both implements and extends the goals our service identifies, whilst enabling the children to develop socially with their peers.
