About Us
Welcome to Wana Tamariki
Wana Tamariki, formerly Conductive Education Waikato, was established in Hamilton in 1991 by a group of parents dedicated to providing a holistic programme that worked with the child and family.
Although our roots are based in Conductive Education (see NZFCE for more information about this), Wana Tamariki now provides a transdisciplinary team, supporting sensory, motor, cognitive, communication and socio-emotional aspects of development. Our team includes:

Education Support Workers
From Conductive Education Waikato to Wana Tamariki
For the last 3 years, Conductive Education Waikato have undertaken a journey of reflection, planning for the future and transforming services.
Over this time we have worked with local groups and iwi, staff and whanau, and have determined that a new name is part of our way forward, along with some key changes to how we work. These changes have already been transformative, and we believe will ensure that we are providing the best possible opportunities to get great outcome to the tamariki and whaanau we work with.
Ngaati Wairere supported us in the process to find our new name and we are especially indebted to them for supporting this process.
The meaning of Wana
The word wana means to bud, shoot, come to life, seedling or young shoot.
It also means to be exciting, stimulating, thrilling and moving. It is also about having excitement, passion and energy.
We believe that this is a very good description of our tamariki and is how we want to work moving forward.
